About Me

Husband and I enjoying our old hobby back in CO...
no more hiking now that we're in South Florida
I got started on my quilting journey this year, when I started looking for a new crafty hobby. I used to crochet, but after moving to South Florida I realized it was far too hot to make wooly things. After scouring the internet for new projects, I came across modern quilting and I was hooked. Ever since my mom taught me to sew, I've wanted to make a quilt. The thing is, I'm terrible at following instructions. One thing I love about quilting is that I don't have to follow any rules, and I've been able to figure things out as I go.

I love my first quilt. I didn't really use an iron or a ruler for most of it which resulted in some slightly wonky blocks. I have learned though, and spend a lot more time with an iron and a can of starch than I ever thought I would.

Like many others out there, I am a "nighttime quilter" and try to squeeze in as much sewing time as possible after work and on the weekends. I've transformed half of our living room into a sewing room, and there are loose threads and rogue scraps everywhere. I take most of my photos in the dark, and stay up late looking at fabric online.

I am a quilter.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Your quilt is so happy looking! I love the colors. Isn't it great that we can just do anything we want in quilting and it somehow usually works?? I'm bad about looking at a quilt and deciding I can make it without a pattern. I do this because I'm always in such a hurry to get started once I find a quilt I like. Sometimes it works, sometimes not! LOL
